WOW--what a successful first season we had in 2022-23! We established a new wind ensemble and performed four concerts with some beautiful music! We reached out to audiences all over our area with concerts in Gainesville, Argyle, and Denton. We established a rehearsal "home" at the NCTC Denton Campus and at the Calhoun Middle School rehearsal hall. We revitalized the band program at NCTC by providing an amazing experience for our students, as they are now able to make music alongside professional musicians and music educators.
The 2023-24 added new members as our ensemble grew to 60 musicians. We performed some great music including a Salute to American Heroes, transcriptions and brand new music for band, and two concerts celebrating the 100th year of North Central Texas College. We stretched our musical muscles to include music from Mahler, Wagner, Julie Giroux, Alfred Reed, Clifton Williams to John Williams! We created a new Jazz Band in 2024, and we look forward to much more exciting music in the future!
Accomplished musicians are invited to audition for the group. Brand new members must submit online auditions via Google Forms. Auditions should be in the form of a 90-second video that features at least one two-octave scale and a short musical excerpt of the musician's choice. Please contact Dr. Singletary at tsingletary@nctc.edu if you need assistance!
No high school/middle school students will be allowed to participate.
Rehearsals are held at Calhoun Middle School in downtown Denton. The group rehearses from 7-9 PM on Monday evenings.
Dr. Thomas Singletary will be conducting the group. Click to read more about Dr. Singletary.
